What it does

Check a public YouTube video’s published category and basic metadata using your own YouTube Data API key.

What you need

A browser and your own YouTube Data API v3 key. The key stays in this page’s memory and is sent directly to Google for your request; Clear key or reloading removes it. Google quota and key restrictions apply.

How to use it

  1. Open the checker and paste a public YouTube video URL or its 11-character ID.
  2. Enter your own key, then choose Check category.
  3. Read the returned category, title and channel. The illustrated example is labelled separately from live results.

This reads publisher-selected metadata. It does not predict recommendations, judge video quality or access private videos.
